One summer day in 2022, Melissa stopped into the Sassafras Coffee shop in Green Lake WI. There always was a group of gentlemen, some Melissa knew, enjoying their coffee and daily conversation. As Melissa grabbed her vanilla latte Carie, the owner, asked her how her husband Todd was. Todd was working for the State of Wisconsin at the time in corrections for 24 years and was being ordered for 16 hour shifts or taking a 3rd shift on Thursday night starting at 10 pm and working until 2 pm the next day to be able to spend time with his family on the weekend. Something he had been having to do for the last six months. It was during this conversation that one of the gentlemen in the coffee clutch heard what was going on.
A couple of days later, this gentleman approached Melissa and suggested he had an opportunity for Todd and requested Todd contact him. The next day this gentleman told Todd about the opportunity he was given. This gentleman had obtained a business with the understanding of paying it forward. During this discussion the idea of bringing Toledo decoys back was born.

Melissa and Todd talked at length, along with a new job for Todd which allowed more time for family and building a business. The discussions included their children with the philosophy of no risk-no reward. Todd and Melissa also wanted to leave something behind that both of the kids would enjoy and be proud of. Together with the faith of God and the support of family and friends, Broken Bill Outfitters, LLC was born. An American made with locally sourced products from Wisconsin.
